Genoa - Porto Torres Ferries

Genoa's port is one of the busiest in Europe and is the hub of Italy's shipbuilding industry. WWII bombs ruined much of the port area but the city was rebuilt and its harbour facilities modernised. Genoa has throughout history been an important sea power on the strength of its fine harbour and strong merchant community.

The route from Genoa to Porto Torres is serviced by Grandi Navi Veloci, founded in 1992 as the newest cruise line of the Grimaldi group. Grandi Navi Veloci was the result of a desire to have a new fleet of ferry ships in the Mediterranean which could respond to the need for fast passenger, car and merchandise transport yet still offer the comfort and lavishness of a cruise ship. Porto Torres is a charming port town in northern Sardinia, with around 20,000 inhabitants. It boasts an archaeological area, with ruins of Roman baths as well as the Romanesque Cathedral of San Gavino. The port is connected by ferries with Genoa and Marseille.
