The Port of Troon is owned and run by the Associated British Ports, Britain's most powerful ports group, and serves as an important ferry port as well as being the main fishing port in the west of Scotland. Troon boasts one of the most sheltered harbours on the west coast of Scotland, and has an efficient trunk road system which links the port to motorways of Scotland and England.

Facilities in the Seacat Ferry Terminal include snacks and beverages vending machines, as well as a spacious departure lounge.
