Traveling to Port

Transportation to and from Dun Laoghaire Port

Book Port of Dun Laoghaire tickets here!

Dun Laoghaire has excellent transport links to the rest of the country, with Dublin's light rail network stopping adjacent to the port, frequent buses running from the terminal to Dublin city and county, and nearby motorways linking motorists with the main arteries of Ireland. Ferry crossings include frequent sailings to Holyhead, on both regular and fast ferries.

Those who are arriving by car should drive out the N11 from the centre of Dublin city, driving through Donnybrook and out past Stillorglin, all the while following the signage for the ferry port.

There is a local rail network which connects Dun Laoghaire directly with Dublin City and many of the surrounding areas. The train network, known as DART, departs every 5 to 10 minutes from beside the port, and runs to the city centre. Passengers should alight at Connolly station if they wish to connect with nationwide trains or buses.

Dublin Bus also operates a bus service from the port to locations in Dublin city and county. Bus links are available from outside the port terminal and run to the city centre (duration 30 minutes), depending on traffic.

The main passenger ferry links to Holyhead and has four daily crossings.

All parking is based on a pay and display system, with seven days a week operation. The entire area is regularly patrolled to ensure the safety of all vehicles. There is both short and long-term car parking available at the terminal, with a special long-term car park located underground (€10 for the first day, and €4 per day thereafter).

Disabled drivers will find a total of 25 designated spaces available in the harbour area. Provided the appropriate EU permit is on show, parking is free for those with disabilities, when parked in the harbour area. Both long and short-term parking facilities are available at the port, with underground long-term parking also available.
