Traveling to Port

Transportation to and from the Port of Cherbourg

Book Cherbourg port tickets

The port is served by excellent road, rail and sea connections, providing daily sailings to Ireland and the UK.

If you are driving from the port of Cherbourg, you will find links to Brittany via the E03 (southwards towards Avranches), with connections to Caen and the Loire Valley via the E46. Cherbourg also offers excellent road links via the N13 to the whole of France.

The docks are a short stroll from the town centre and a shuttle bus meets the conventional ferry for a 10-minute journey into the town. From there you may make travel on to national and international destinations via the extensive bus network. By air, Cherbourg's Maupertus (CER) (tel: + 33 (0) 2-33-88-57-60) deals with domestic and some international flights, providing convenient access to the port.

Seven trains a day connect Cherbourg with Paris St Lazare station, with further information available about times and fares from SNCF (tel: +33 (0) 8 36 35 35 35), France's national rail service, which is comfortable and efficient.

Ferries connect to Poole and Portsmouth in the UK, as well as Rosslare in the southeast of Ireland.

Once at the port, you will find parking available near the terminal buildings, for both short and long-term stays.
