Traveling to Port
Transportation to and from Cairnryan

Cairnryan is closer by sea to Northern Ireland than Stranraer, however it is not served by train, and hence did not develop to the same extent as its neighbour. However, bus and motorway reach the port, with ferries linking the town to Larne in Northern Ireland.
To reach the port by car from the south, drive along the M6/A74, driving past Carlisle to Gretna, and then take the A75 west. Just before reaching Stranraer, turn right onto A751 and then bear onto the A77 to Cairnryan. You will find the Port located 5 miles to the north. If arriving from the north, you may reach Cairnryan by following the A77 Coast Road from Ayr.
