Established in 1996 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the French national railway company, SNCF, SeaFrance is the only French company operating a ferry service between Dover and Calais. Last year, SeaFrance carried over 3 million passengers and over a million passenger and freight vehicles across the English Channel. The company boasts a turnover of over EUR 260 million annually; and, with over 1,500 staff, SeaFrance Ferries is also the largest employer in the Calais area.
