Scandlines
Scandlines is a leading ferry service operator in the Scandinavian and Baltic region, servicing both passengers and their vehicles, as well as freight and rail lines. The company has a large fleet that connects Denmark, Sweden, Germany and Latvia. However, it also provides shuttle and commuter ferry services within Denmark and on short routes to Sweden.
Scandlines was created from the merger of former shipping line partners DFO (the merged entity of former West and East German rail operators) and Scandlines A/S in July 1998. This solidified the almost century-long cooperation between the German and Danish rail services. The company is now jointly owned by the German Deutsche Bahn and Danish Transport Ministry on a 50-50 basis and is the largest ferry company in the Baltic Sea.

Since the merger, Scandlines has invested heavily in modernising and expanding its substantial fleet to offer the most efficient and comfortable sailings. Annually, Scandlines carries 20 million passengers, 4 million cars, 875,000 trucks and 110,000 railcars. With over 260 ferry departures daily, Scandlines offers the most comprehensive network of routes in the Baltic Sea for passengers and freight.
