NorthLink Ferries network
NorthLink provides ferry links between the Scottish mainland and the Orkney and Shetland Isles.
The route from Scrabster, near Thurso, in northern Scotland to Stromness in the Orkney's, sails up to three times daily, with a reduction to two sailings on Saturday and Sunday. The journey time for this crossing is 1 hour, 30 minutes.

The second route is from Aberdeen in northeastern Scotland to Lerwick in the Shetlands, stopping en route at Kirkwall in Orkney. There is one sailing a day, with some sailings skipping the Kirkwall stop and sailing directly to Lerwick. Departures from Aberdeen are either at 17:00 or 19:00, arriving in Lerwick the following morning at 07:30; the 19:00 departures skip the Kirkwall stop. The Kirkwall call is also skipped during the winter months. The journey time for this crossing is roughly 12 hours.
